Had some friends help me. Got the stockers off, cleaned them and got the winter setup on. I need one new lug nut that we stripped with a non-OEM lug wrench. Time for lockers!

That... actually looks really awesome. Definitely cooler than most winter set ups I've seen.

God, why won't people realize that steelies are infinitely better looking than plastic hub caps?

Just recently put snow tires on mine (though on the stock wheels... did not realize how wide those were) and dear jesus it has gone from being a bit of a handful on the interstate to literally not being able to just drive straight. The twitchy alignment coupled with the soft sidewalls makes for a very wandering ride.

Yeah, the spongey feeling is the worst. In my experience the Michelin's are better than some. I had Blizzaks on a 2wd car once, and I shit you not the traction control would go off on the dry interstate if I had to go up a hill. Got real tired of re-engaging cruise control every ten minutes for a thousand miles.

Swapping out wheels on your ford fiesta required the help of friends, AND you stripped a lug nut?

Your oppo card has been revoked.

Pro tip: Just buy the lug nut and don't put locking nuts on. Otherwise you will, eventually, lose the key and require doing the socket pound method to remove them.

Besides if a crim wants you stock wheels or steelies that much, he'll do just that to get them.

Wow. Come on dude. A) Ford Focus ST. B) Friends volunteered to help. C) used an old tire iron that would have given more leverage if it was old. But I used the OEM one and a rubber mallet to fix the strip.

Swapped in the snowshoes on my Mazda6 (Blizzak WS80) and Fiat Abarth (Pirelli SnowControl 3) this weekend. Biggest drama I had was figuring out the damn jack points. I don't have a pinch weld pad for my PowerZone floor jack, and had to improvise a bit for the Abarth. For the 6 I finally gave up and just used the provided (miserable) car jack.

Both cars are new this spring and have never been through a Vermont winter. Really interested to see how the Abarth takes to it. I'm used to small car in snow (Honda Fit last 5 years), but the Abarth is another level of tiny.

Bought the whole setup from a guy on focusst.org. He said the steelers are off a Taurus 16"), and he got the center caps on eBay. They're ford OEM, and have the part number on the back of them.

hah. This whole experience made me decide that I'm buying a floor jack for the spring change over. I used the OEM ford one, so it took a little while. totally interested to see an abarth go through a VT winter too. You guys have it bad! Keep us posted!

Hmmm. I wonder if I can get a similar set from Chevy.

I was going to say I should go to the Ford dealer and grab a set, but it would look a little odd on a Cruze.

$46. I believe that's for a single one.

You won't regret it. A good floor jack is not only faster, more versatile and more convenient. It's a heckuva lot safer too. Just make sure you figure out available jack points first (because I didn't). If you are limited to pinch weld points, you may need to buy or fashion a jack adapter.

Oh, and if you are going to stick your melon under a lifted car, spend an extra few bucks on a pair of jack stands. Very handy.

Switched mine over last week....went from the factory 16 alloys to 15 inch steelies and a higher profile tire.

Kinja'd!!!

Same circumference, I actually think the ride is better with more sidewall.

Yeah, my ride is smoother, but I went from 18in alloys w/ Summer Performance tires to 16in steelies w/ massive god damn sidewalls haha. It's a cool feeling though

NICE setup! I just did the same thing with my Fiesta. Where did you get those awesome hubcaps? I want some like those but can’t find any for my four-lug wheels.

I know I’m a year behind when you posted this lol, but I’m guessing you’ll be running this same setup this winter.
